covid19-update4- 05-05-2020

This is the 7th since we first diagnosed a first case of COVID-19 and it is therefore important to be on the lookout for data as it evolves.

We are going into a 4th week since our last case was diagnosed but we CANNOT lose sight of the fact that our neighbours are having escalating numbers in terms of cases and deaths.

In graphs below, do take a close look at the official numbers are presented by IDB with data/calculations from the European CDC with country data.

We also note the call to ‘test, test, test’ and note the comparison with other countries in the Latin American Region.

We appreciate all the feedback and do ask that you bear with us in terms of providing the data in real time.

We also do note that the common question now is from which geographic area the cases are coming from but as we move along we can anticipate a delay given that this needs to be verified. The infographic does capture where persons show up or are called for a test but that may be different from where the person lives or works.

For the Stann Creek District, we had 8 cases last night:
– 2 in Dangriga related to a previously identified case
– 6 in Independence (1 contact related to San Pedro & 5 related to a tug boat that was engaged in movement of cargo at sea – link to Honduras)

No single community can let their guard down based on the premise that they have no identified case.

Stay safe all!
