COVID 19 UPDATE in Belize

Data for Sunday, May 3rd, 2020.

We have one more recovered patient and we anticipate that the other two patients will recover later on this week.

While this is certainly good news as we have started with random samples from across the country, we cannot afford to assume we are through with COVID-19.

We must continue to exercise all necessary precautions as we move on with our daily activities.

It will require an ongoing community effort from all if we are to continue to have a successful intervention

Good morning and happy labor day all. Today SI No. 65 came into force. As I’ve said yesterday the effect of this SI is not an all clear, yes it is more relaxing than the previous ones but it also contain a number of measure that we must abide by. Some of the measures are as follows-
-More stores can reopen today for business;
– the reasons for being out is expanded;
– laundromat can open for drop off and pick up only;
– lawyers and other professional services can also reopen;
– no bathing rivers or sea;
– no social gather in any yard where persons from outside your household are invited;
– no street vending is allowed;
– once you are out in any public space, public place, public transportation, stores or office you must-
– wear a mask or other face and mouth covering(if you cannot afford a mask you can improvise with a suitable material)
– maintain social distance of at least 6 ft. (Does not apply to when in public transportation)
– working out remains from 5 to 8 am and also now includes cycling; however they must not ride two abreast.
– curfew is still in effect from 8pm to 5 am.
– once you are out, you must have a valid reason to do so.
The police will stop and ask questions and I ask your full cooperation. It is therefore still advise to stay at home unless there is a necessity for you to be out. It order for us to continue winning this fight, we need the support of all. As a nation we are all in this together and I beg your continuous support in making our enforcement efforts much easier. Thanks and may the good lord continue to bless us and our country.
