As soon as we’ve a hand on the pandemic we will begin to get together to check out the ways that we are able to put it into existence,” he said.

Mexico’s FA president, Yon de Luisa, is usually chairing the working group and Barbados Football Association and Caribbean Football Union (CFU) President, Randy Harris, may be the deputy chair.”

CFU’s Harris, who’s also a CONCACAF vice-president, sounded all gung-ho for this during an interview with the Barbados Nation newspaper. seven are from Central America; “It really is obvious that enough time has arrive for the Caribbean nations to become playing professional football because what we are doing at the moment is playing as amateurs against professional football players representing their countries.”

“Sustainability may also be a key issue even though the league will potentially be supported by CONCACAF and FIFA funds, the target is for it to create and live off its business case, he said, adding, “it requires to be properly thought [out] and planned otherwise it won’t be sustainable.

CONCACAF President, Canadian Victor Montagliani, recently stated in a news release from the organisation that the working group will in a couple weeks begin ending up in no preconceived suggestions, “it’s a blank slate. and three are North American.CONCACAF now includes a working group collection to format and structure a regional professional football league which should start in the Caribbean and the north and central American zones soon after the Coronavirus, COVID-19, world pandemic ends.”

“I believe that if we are able to allow the players to take advantage of the game, the complete mind-set of how people view the overall game in the region changes.

CONCACAF, Confederation of North, Central American, and Caribbean Association Football, comprises 41 member nations which 28 are from the geographical Caribbean, though three South American nations identify as Caribbean taking that CFU grouping’s total to 31.

PSU rejects Government proposal, GOB may alter laws in light of Covid-19

Minister of Government, specifically the Ministry of finance has requested the PSU to accept the new pay adjustments due to Covid-19 affecting the collapse of the Government’s finances. If this proposal is not accepted, the government will amend the public service regulations that give the Minister the power to adjust salaries.

GOVERNMENT OF BELIZE Ministry of Finance Belmopan, Belize
C/GEN/ 1/01 T (13) May 6, 2020
Mr. Gerald Henry President Public Service Union of Belize Belmopan
Re: Proposed Cost Savings Measures

Dear Mr. Henry

I write in furtherance of our exchange of email correspondence on this matter and particularly as a response to your last letter dated 4 May 2020 addressed to the Rt. lion. Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
I have once more. as I have done tluoughout, conferred with the Rt Hon Prime Minister and Minister as Minister of Finance and Minister of the Public service. I am directed by him to say that Ministers of Government have agreed consistent with one aspect of the case the Unions have earlier advanced, to give up half of their Housing and Telephone allowance. This is on top of forgoing one month’s salary; and In aggregate far exceeds what Public Officers and Teachers are asked to forgo.

In light of this, I am to ask again for your sup, regarding the proposals pertaining to the IncremeMs and allowances of Teachers and Public Officers. I remind you of the extremity of the ongoing Could-19 crisis and the collapse of public finances.

If the PSU rejects the proposals, please be informed that the Minister Intends to proceed as follows. He will seek, after hearing from from you,to advise his excellency the Governor General to amend the Public Service Regulations so as to give the Minister the power to alter salaries, emoluments and increments in order to deal with the current unprecedented situation.

In view of the urge, of the matte, please let me have your response soonest but no later than Friday 8 May 2020.

Yours Sincerely.

Joseph Waight

Zero Active COVID-19 cases for Belize

0
covid-19 updated 05-05-2020

COVID – 19 Current Update:

This is our data for today.

We can now confirm that our last two active cases have recovered as their second test is now negative!

We however, need to continue to exercise the preventive measures across all sectors as the numbers with our neighbours continue to go up.

Neighbouring Guatemala up to yesterday has reported 730 cases with 46 cases being in the Eastern (includes Peten) part of Guatemala and the neigbhouring state of Quintana Roo is reporting 956 cases up until midday today with a total of 24 cases in the neighbouring municipality of Othon P. Blanco (Chetumal included in this data).

We need a community effort as we move along to prevent any more cases of COVID-19.
